Who It Is: Father Figure / Marcy - Split; Too Far Gone Records // The Lamp Foundation // Don’t Live Like Me Records // Friendly Otter (2014)

What It Sounds Like:

Father Figure: Melodic lo-fi ish screamo, Innards

Marcy: Iwrotehaikus, a more violent Alta

Review:

Father Figure (rest in pizza) was a three-piece screamo band from Denton, Texas which included Miles and Parker of Two Knights with Miles coming out from behind the drumset and lending his role to their friend Tommy while Miles picked up the bass and offered more vocal variety to their songs with Parker. The band was known for their use of clean, dead guitars, super busy bass-work, and chaotic transitions from groovy and melodic, to heavy and emotional. The band was active from 2011 to 2013 when they had to unfortunately break up due to the departure of Tommy, yet the band released a slew of solid demos before ending things after their tour. Regardless, the band had a couple of recordings that hadn’t seen the light of day so they decided to toss them out there as a last hurrah.
